3 mm MDF · no glue · 836 × 297 × 251 mm · 30° tilt · 15° shelves · version 2
For 1:64 collectible cars, like Hot Wheels. It is laser cut from a single sheet of 3 mm MDF, assembled without glue (ten wedges hold everything together) and hung on the wall. I designed it for my own collection; here it is, complete, so anyone can build it. Engraved part labels are in Spanish: FRENTE means front, MURO means wall.
| Joint | Type | Clearance |
|---|---|---|
| Shelf to side | 30 mm through tab with a 1:6 wedge | t + 0.15 |
| Wedge in tab | 3.2 × 6.9 mm slot, 5 mm of material to the end | t + 0.20 |
| Back panel 5 (wall) to side | Box: five 40 mm tabs in closed slots, 6 mm of side behind | t + 0.05 |
| Back panels 1 to 4 to side | 15 mm tabs, one every 60 mm of height | t + 0.05 |
| Back panel to base | Four 30 mm tabs | t + 0.05 |
| Base to side | Two 30 mm tabs per side; the base also extends 6 mm behind back panel 5 | t + 0.05 |
| Shelf on back panel | Simple support on the top edge | — |
| 6 mm lip to shelf | Six 20 mm tabs and one 4 mm tab to each side | t + 0.05 |
| 12 mm fin to shelf | Two 10 mm tabs in ±30° slots | t + 0.05 |
t is the actual measured thickness of the sheet. Only the 10 wedges hold the assembly: they clamp the sides and everything else is trapped between them.

Outer dimensions including tabs. Shelves 2 and 4 have their fin slots facing the opposite way to 1, 3 and 5; each shelf is engraved with its number and the word FRENTE (front).
1220 × 1220 mm sheet with the 85 production parts. 3 mm between parts and an 8 mm margin; the actual cutting area is 1198 × 1190 mm. No part sits inside another part’s window. The DXF already compensates for a 0.10 mm kerf: the machine must cut without compensation.
Changes from the version I built: a box in the sides and base for the wall panel, 70 × 90 mm windows in that panel, 12 mm fins and a 6 mm lip.

Trademarks. Hot Wheels is a trademark of Mattel, Inc. This is an independent design for 1:64 scale cars: it is not affiliated with, sponsored or endorsed by Mattel. The brand is named only to say what the display is for.
Safety. Provided as is, without warranty. If you hang it, choose screws and anchors suitable for your wall and for the weight (about 4 kg with the cars), and check that the wedges are tight. Laser cutting MDF produces smoke and dust: do it with extraction, in a suitable workshop. The parts and the cars are small: keep them away from young children.
